民国年间，时值中元节，太平县昏暗的戏楼正上演着一场给“阴山鬼王的阴戏”。恰逢警察局局长方敬儒（张子健饰）大寿，局长儿子派人搅乱了戏班子，强占戏院为其父贺寿，正当所有人沉浸在喜悦的气氛中时，一个熊熊燃烧的活人从戏台上空而降，像极了中元节鬼王被烧的场景，与此同时，台下的纸人和鬼王牌位竟也瞬间燃起，人们纷传是其惹怒了鬼王。方敬儒盛怒之下开始调查此事，奉天白事铺掌柜许四九（刘智扬饰）也被迫卷入其中。随着案情深入，故事主人公许四九见证了一桩桩悲剧，也终于找到了背后的答案……。John Ellman (Boris Karloff) has been framed for murder by a gang of racketeers. He is unfairly tried and despite the fact that his innocence has been proven, he is sent to the electric chair and executed. Dr. Evan Beaumont (Edmund Gwenn) retrieves his dead body and revives it, as part of his experiments to reanimate a dead body and discover what happens to the soul after death....。Ok, folks, this is my last Ishii upload. Totsugeki! Hakata gurentai is his first feature and last 8mm film. Haven't watched it yet myself, but from the looks of it, this is very much reminescent of eighties and nineties v-cinema, sort of like early Miike (only made in 1978). There is considerably more dialogue than in his earlier films, but it doesn't seem too complicated plotw...。
