故事描述蛙女是一个十三、四岁的船家女，蛙女的亲爹是地下党，因善于潜水，被骗入旧上海的“黑龙头家”，却意外地与亲生母亲（宋佳扮演）相见，原来“黑龙头”刘铁生就是蛙女母亲的后夫，记忆中张铁生的弟弟张铁福特坏。刘铁生要蛙女在黄浦江底打捞一只沉了十年的银箱，而这银箱又关系着六百个工人的命运。蛙女为了不使银箱落入刘铁生手里，机灵地跟他们展开了斗争，经历了许多惊险的艰难曲折，最后终于逃出了魔掌，把银箱打捞上来……[。Based in 1934 in Duluth, Minn., during the Great Depression, “Girl From the North Country” centers on a group of wayward travelers as their lives intersect in a guesthouse.
